OVERVIEW

Insulgard Security Products’ FG Series fiberglass-reinforced structural polyester laminate exhibits unique bullet-resisting characteristics. The layers of the bullet-resistant wall panel are designed to delaminate or separate from each other when struck by a projectile. The bullet then becomes trapped within the woven fiberglass.

This BULLETBLOCK FG Series fiberglass structural armor is available in UL752 levels 1-8 ballistic protection and comes in both stock sheets (3′ x 8′, 4′ x 5′, or 4′ x 8′) and custom sizes.

Bullet-resistant panels can offer excellent protection from ballistic threats in varying applications, including financial institutions, government facilities, convenience stores, and other types of buildings. The opaque armor can be installed to line walls, ceilings, doors, or millwork.

Applications of Bullet-Resistant Fiberglass Panels

Bullet-resistant panels are some of the most versatile and practical safety solutions available today. Because Insulgard wall panels come in various sheet sizes, weights, and thicknesses, safety solutions can be modified to meet your facility’s needs.

Typical applications for bullet-resisting fiberglass sheets include:

Commercial Buildings

Ballistic wall panels provide highly secure walls and barriers for various commercial buildings, including businesses, healthcare facilities, restaurants, hotels, apartments, and shops.

Bullet-resistant sheets attach directly to a stud wall during new construction or renovations. They can also line existing surfaces while retaining the aesthetic appeal of these high-traffic spaces.

Government Buildings

Insulgard produces bulletproof wall panels for architects and glazing contractors who design and renovate government spaces, including homeland security, federal courthouses, embassies, consulates, recruiting stations, veterans’ facilities, and post offices. City, county, and state offices also benefit from the added protection of bullet-resistant panels.

Financial Institutions

Banks, credit unions, check-cashing centers, and other financial institutions are high-theft targets because they typically hold large amounts of cash and valuables. Bullet-resistant panels help manage the threat of bombs, blasts, and bullets from handguns, rifles, and shotguns. Fiberglass ballistic panels can be installed in lobbies, drive-through windows, teller counters, offices, and vaults

Benefits of Using Bullet-Resistant Fiberglass Panels

Insulgard offers the state-of-the-art BULLETBLOCK product line, which includes ballistic wall panels. These materials and framing systems are manufactured for superior durability against bullets and forced entry.

Ballistic panels can deter or stall intruders, giving individuals inside more time to reach safety and contact authorities. Assailants may think twice about attempting a crime when a building is more challenging to access.

Installation Process

Insulgard experts work with your team to determine the most effective way to incorporate bullet-resistant panels into your space. We help you achieve your security goals by selecting the appropriate size, weight, configuration, and safety level for your needs. Insulgard employs professional installation crews to ensure your ballistic products fit correctly and are prepared to withstand potential threats. Panel placement and mounting are custom to each project.

Testing and Certification Standards

Although no material is entirely “bulletproof,” Insulgard fiberglass bullet-resistant panels make it harder for projectiles to penetrate walls and other surfaces. Sheets are available in UL752 Levels 1-8 ballistic protection.

UL572 bullet-resistant ratings describe different grades of ballistic resistance across ten levels, from 9mm handguns to 12-gauge shotguns. Materials are graded according to the type and number of shots they can successfully resist from penetrating the panel entirely.

Insulgard tailors’ safety solutions based on the application and desired level of security.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is bullet-resistant fiberglass?

Bullet-resistant fiberglass panels contain multiple layers that absorb the bullet to keep it from penetrating the sheet entirely. These layers trap projectiles between fibers while maintaining the material’s integrity to prevent it from shattering and exposing occupants to active threats.

How do bullet-resistant fiberglass panels differ from other security materials?

Fiberglass differs from steel and other security materials because it eliminates the bullet’s energy to prevent it from ricocheting throughout the space and chipping upon impact. This adds another layer of security to prevent injuries and protect assets. Fiberglass panels are also much easier to cut and fabricate on site for custom fit.

Are bullet-resistant fiberglass panels suitable for residential use?

Yes. Bulletproof wall panels are suitable for private homes. They are ideal for securing safe rooms to protect family and guests during a break-in or home invasion. Opaque panels have not been tested for tornado or hurricane.

Can bullet-resistant fiberglass panels stop all types of bullets?

No material is 100% bulletproof. However, bullet-resistant fiberglass is often called “bulletproof” because it can withstand multiple shots from various firearms.

BULLETBLOCK FG Series bullet-resistant fiberglass panels are available in UL752 levels 1 through 8, offering protection from various ballistic threats. Building owners, architects, and contractors can choose the product made for the threat they are most likely to encounter. Each product will stop the round it was designed and tested to protect against.

Are there any limitations to the installation of these panels?

Insulgard bullet-resistant fiberglass wall panels are designed for seamless installation behind sheetrock, drywall, and millwork in new construction and can also be retrofitted in existing spaces. Because BULLETBLOCK structural armor is available in standard and custom sizes, we can customize a solution for your building’s dimensions and layout.
